THE CAT FLAP

Well, the Devil's Advocate has come, seen and sown the seeds of blogdom in the mind of the Brindle one. She, in turn, purred and stirred then hemmed and hawed but not for long. Brindle wisdom will thus spring forth forthwith.

The bag lady

I met this old lady carrying a canvas bag
Who remembers how, as a child,
She used to play games of tag!
To her, those days were really wild,
Those days she spent as a happy child

But she never dreamed that
These many years later,
She'd be spending her nights
Alongside an escalator.

For a dress, she's wearing an old rag
And she has the appearance of a typical old hag.
What happened to this once-free child
Who was so happy and wild?
She has become toothless
And yes, at times even a bit ruthless ~

So where did she go wrong
Where did she lose her right to belong?

During the winter, her days are spent freezing
And she's not only freezing, She's also forever sneezing

Her life's goal is not to thrive
But to merely survive
She's what we call 'homeless'
And by the condition of her knotted hair,
She must also be 'comb-less'

How did this all come about?
After all, she's not the world's leading lout
She has never conquered any nation
Or been the cause of a harmful temptation
All she seeks are some edible leftovers,
Or a charitable ration
Or perhaps something she can wear, that won't easily tear~

She too was once pretty and young,
Not yet destined for the bottom rung
Yet now she'll gladly settle for being unsung
And more importantly, something that would please
The taste buds on her tongue

Does she make you feel like crying?
Well, that wouldn't take much trying
We've all seen her at one time or another
And yes, she can be taken for somebody's mother!

She can be seen in every big city,
The object of many a passerby's pity
But don't give her another thought
After all, doesn't she amount to naught?
